Will you take on the challenge: a five-leg nature trail crossing Lanzarote from north to south, in aid of Living With Parkinson’s
Get those trainers out of the wardrobe and join us for our next great fundraising challenge. Hot on the heels of a successful event in 2024, we are again embarking on a five-leg nature trail (GR-131) crossing Lanzarote from north to south – taking in its people, traditions and walking amongst dormant volcanoes. The route spans a total of 77km, but don’t panic! Our challenge is to walk the route over five consecutive weekends in February and March 2025 to raise funds for Living With Parkinson’s.
How can you get involved?
We invite those interested to join us on one or more (or all!) of the five “legs”… maybe the leg closest to your home? Entry fee is 5€ for each stage you wish to participate in, or 25€ for the full challenge of all five stages – which also includes a FREE challenge T-shirt (available to purchase at 10€ if you are not walking all five legs) . In addition you may wish to raise further funds by encouraging friends and family to sponsor your efforts. We are promoting early to give entrants time to dust off their good walking shoes and get in a little training ! When we have an idea on numbers, shared transport to the start / finish points can be arranged.
What is the route?
- Sunday 16 February – ÓRZOLA > HARIA 14km (approx. 3hrs)
- Sunday 23 February – HARIA > TEGUISE 13km (approx 2.5hrs)
- Sunday 2 March – TEGUISE > SAN BARTOLOME 9.5km (approx 2hrs)
- Sunday 2 March – Special Accessible Leg – SAN BARTOLOME (back by popular demand, a shorter walk – approx 2km – over a flat, smooth surface. Perfectly designed for those with difficulty moving or walking). A great way to be involved if the longer legs feel beyond reach. FREE for members.
- Sunday 9 March – SAN BARTOLOME > YAIZA 23km (approx 5hrs)
- Sunday 16 March – YAIZA > PLAYA BLANCA 17.5km (approx 3.5hrs)
What if I’m not up to it?
Don’t worry! You can still support the challenge by making a donation to support those walking the route.
